Video Analysis & Technique Review
See What You Can’t Feel. Fix What You Can’t See.
The Gap Between Feeling and Reality
“I think my forehand looks pretty good,” Michael said confidently. He was a 4.5 USTA player who’d
plateaued for two years. Technically proficient, strategically sound—but stuck.
I’d been coaching him for three weeks and suspected I knew the problem, but verbal corrections weren’t
landing. So I recorded his strokes and we watched together on my tablet.
His face changed immediately. “Wait… is that really what I’m doing?”
On video, Michael could see what he couldn’t feel: his forehand follow-through stopped abruptly at
shoulder height instead of wrapping around. His weight stayed on his back foot. His racket face closed
too early, robbing his shots of power and topspin.
“I had no idea,” he said quietly. “I thought I was following through all the way.”
That’s the power of video analysis: it bridges the gap between what you think you’re doing and what
you’re actually doing. You can’t fix what you can’t see—and you can’t see your own swing while you’re
making it.
Over the next month, we used video analysis in every session. I’d record Michael’s strokes, we’d watch
them together in slow motion, I’d draw on the screen to show exactly what needed to change, and then
we’d re-record to track progress.
His forehand transformed. More importantly, his ranking moved. After two years stuck at 4.5, he’s now
solidly playing 5.0 tennis. The technical adjustments made all the difference—but he couldn’t make them
until he could see them.
Why Video Analysis Works
Tennis happens fast. Your brain can’t process the mechanics of your swing while you’re executing it—
you’re focused on the ball, your opponent, your positioning. You feel like you’re doing things correctly,
but often, you’re not.
Video analysis slows everything down. We can watch your stroke frame by frame, compare it to professional
technique, identify the exact moment where things go wrong, and show you precisely what needs to change.
It’s objective, visual, and undeniable. You’re not taking my word for it—you’re seeing it yourself.

What Video Analysis Includes
📹 Professional Recording
I record your strokes from multiple angles using high-speed video (120+ fps). We capture forehands,
backhands, serves, volleys—whatever you want to analyze.
Multiple angles matter because problems often hide in perspectives. Side view might look fine, but
back view reveals improper rotation. We catch everything.
🎬 Slow-Motion Breakdown
We watch your strokes in slow motion, pausing at critical moments: preparation, contact point,
follow-through. I explain what’s happening biomechanically and why it matters.
Seeing your swing frame-by-frame reveals details invisible at full speed: where your weight shifts,
how your racket moves through the hitting zone, when your body rotates.
✏️ Visual Markup & Annotation
I draw directly on the video: lines showing swing path, circles highlighting problem areas, arrows
indicating direction of movement. Visual markup makes feedback crystal clear.
“Your racket should follow this path” becomes obvious when I draw it on the screen overlaid on your swing.
🏆 Pro Comparison
We compare your technique to professional players with similar styles. This isn’t about making you
look like Federer—it’s about showing you what optimal technique looks like and identifying key differences.
Seeing the comparison side-by-side makes adjustments intuitive instead of abstract.
📊 Written Summary & Action Plan
After the session, you receive a detailed written report: what we discovered, specific problems
identified, recommended corrections, and drills to practice.
You can review this anytime, share it with other coaches, or reference it during practice. The analysis
doesn’t end when the session does.
💾 Video Files for Your Records
You get copies of all recorded video (original and annotated versions) to keep. Track your progress
over time by comparing analysis sessions from different months.
Many students create before/after compilations showing dramatic improvement—incredibly motivating
when progress feels slow.
Video Analysis Is Essential For…
📈 Players Stuck at a Plateau
You’ve been the same level for months or years. You practice regularly but don’t improve. Video
analysis reveals the hidden technical flaws holding you back—flaws you can’t feel but can fix once
you see them.
🤕 Players Dealing with Injury
Chronic tennis elbow? Shoulder pain? Back problems? Often, these stem from improper technique.
Video analysis identifies biomechanical issues causing injury, allowing you to correct them and
play pain-free.
🎯 Competitive Players Seeking an Edge
At higher levels, tiny technical improvements make huge differences. Video analysis fine-tunes elite
technique, turning good strokes into great ones and shaving milliseconds that win close matches.
🔄 Players Making Technique Changes
Changing your grip? Modifying your serve? Adjusting your backhand? Video confirms you’re making the
changes correctly and consistently—not reverting to old habits when under pressure.
🧠 Visual Learners
Some people learn best by seeing, not just hearing instructions. If verbal coaching doesn’t click
for you, video analysis makes everything visual and concrete.
📊 Players Tracking Long-Term Progress
Video analysis every 3-6 months creates an objective record of improvement. You’ll see how far you’ve
come—motivating when progress feels invisible day-to-day.

How Video Analysis Works
Recording Session
We meet on court and I record your strokes from multiple angles using professional video equipment.
You hit normally—no pressure to perform perfectly. We capture 15-20 reps of each stroke to get
representative samples.
Immediate Review
Right there on court, we watch the video together on a tablet. I show you what’s happening, explain
the technical issues, and demonstrate corrections. You see problems in real-time while they’re fresh.
Corrections & Re-Recording
Based on what we discovered, you practice corrected technique while I coach and provide feedback.
Then we record again to confirm changes are happening and show you the difference. Seeing improvement
immediately is incredibly motivating.
Detailed Report & Video Files
After the session, I send you a comprehensive written report with specific findings, recommended drills,
and practice priorities. You also receive all video files (original and annotated) for your records.
Follow-Up Support
For two weeks after analysis, you can email me questions or send practice videos for quick feedback.
I want to make sure you’re implementing changes correctly.
What Players Say About Video Analysis
“I thought I knew what my serve looked like. Video analysis showed me I was completely wrong.
Seeing the problems in slow motion made corrections obvious. My serve improved more in one session
than in six months of regular lessons.”
“I’d had tennis elbow for a year. Video analysis revealed my forehand technique was causing it.
After making the corrections Olga identified, my pain disappeared within three weeks. Wish I’d done
this sooner.”
“As a competitive junior, video analysis is essential. Being able to see exactly what I’m doing—
and compare it to pros—has elevated my game. I do analysis sessions quarterly now to track progress
and catch problems early.”
